Once upon time, there was a small, ambitious delicatessen on Mercer Island. “Mavens” made all food from scratch with love. Traditional Jewish foods from Eastern Europe were updated with fresh, local ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. The deli may no longer be there, but its spirit and traditions live on in our craft pickles and preserves. Products are hand-produced with the original “tradition, updated” recipes. We hope they bring you a little piece of the joy the Stopsky’s family came to cherish.
Katy Lauzon, Manager/Pickle Purveyor
Katy developed a passion and skill for cooking at a young age. Growing up she cooked dinner for her family and started working in the culinary field at fifteen. By the age of twenty-one, she landed her first head chef position at Rockfish Grill in Anacortes. Six years later, she went to Florence, Italy to complete a three-month culinary externship. Upon her return to the United States, Katy cooked at Cafe Adrift in Anacortes and then moved to Seattle to accept the head chef position at Porterhouse in West Seattle. Katy had two stints at Stopsky's Delicatessen on Mercer Island and was excited to help develop the Stopsky's Pickles & Preserves brand.
